Dance for Joy was formed to develop, teach and offer dance programs which deliver the physical, mental, social and emotional benefits of partner dance throughout Southwest Florida.
The mission of Dancing Classrooms is to cultivate engaged learners, collaborative leaders and inclusive spaces through the joyful art and practice of social dance. Over a 10-week, 20-session in-school residency for fifth graders, taught by trained and certified Teaching Artists in the Dancing Classrooms curriculum and methodology, the program promotes inclusivity, teamwork, respect and compassion.
Transform lives through the physical, mental, social and emotional benefits of partner dance.
Through partner dance programs, we provide youth, seniors, veterans and communities from all walks of life the opportunity to feel joy, respect and connection through the movement and teamwork of partner dance.
Respect, Connection, Movement, Teamwork and Joy
Students and teachers learn social dances over the course of the semester, including the Merengue, Foxtrot, Rumba, Tango, Swing, and Waltz. Our teaching artists work with each teacher to integrate Dancing Classrooms topics with a wide range of standard educational subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies, geography, music, physical education, and visual arts.
Your donation will help Dance For Joy SWFL bring the renowned Dancing Classrooms program to Southwest Florida students and provide training for our Teaching Artists.
